The word AWANA stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed and is from 2 Timothy 2:15 – "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."

AWANA is a Bible club that emphasizes learning the word of God. We meet each Wednesday evening during the school year (Sept-May) from 6:45-8:15 pm.  Each club night is set up in three 30-minute time blocks: Handbook Time, Council Time and Game Time.  During Handbook Time the clubber will recite the verses they have learned throughout the week to their leader.  As sections are passed, emblems and awards are presented to be worn on the clubber’s uniform as a display of their achievements.  These incentives reinforce good behaviour, encourage future achievement and create enthusiasm for learning.

Council Time is a segment featuring singing, testimonies and a Bible message.  Awards, presentations and announcements are also scheduled at this time.  At Game Time clubbers can enjoy fun and games on the unique AWANA Game Circle.  Boys and girls are encouraged to wear jeans (for comfort and modesty) and tennis shoes.

The clubs are divided by age for appropriate lessons and learning:  Puggles (2 year olds), Cubbies (3-4 year olds), Sparks (K-2nd grade), and Truth and Training (3rd-5th grade).
